Eigentlich hatte ich erwartet, dass der Film total dumm wird. So wie 2012 oder G.I. Joe: Großes Budget und massig Effekte – aber ein papierdünner Plot. Denn mal ernsthaft: Blaue Katzenindianer aus dem Computer gegen böse US-Invasoren? Alles erscheint so dermaßen einfach gestrickt, dass man schon nach dem Trailer die gesamte Story zu kennen scheint – inklusive aller Twists und Charaktere. Und es ist tatsächlich so...
Aber es ist einem egal. Es ist fast so, als würde man vor etwas Monumentalem stehen – etwa dem Grand Canyon – und sich sagen "Ach, eigentlich hab ich das schon tausend mal auf Fotos gesehen". Und dennoch ist man überwältigt. Weil es zwar genau so ist, wie man es erwartet hat – aber dennoch viel gewaltiger, als man es sich je hat vorstellen können.
Normalerweise sind Filme bei mir genau dann gut, wenn ich mir sage "Den will ich auf DVD!". Aber bei dem hier geht das nicht. Ich werd auf jeden Fall ein zweites mal ins Kino. Denn der Film war so beeindruckend, dass ich das auf einem Fernseher daheim nie wieder hinbekäme – vor allem nicht in 3D, was dem Film im wahrsten Sinne eine weitere Dimension verleiht und wohl bis auf weiteres der großen Leinwand vorbehalten bleibt.
In einem Interview zum Film sagte James Cameron: "When people have an experience that's very powerful in the movie theatre, they want to go share it. They want to grab their friend and bring them, so that they can enjoy it together. They want to be the person to bring them the news that this is something worth having in their life."
Und das stimmt. Oh mann.
